This was a truly amazing experience in the redwoods. Our guides made the trip one that will be remembered.
The Redwoods in Northern California are spectacularly beautiful. My jaw dropped on our first hike in the forest among the Redwoods. We experienced the forest, the river, and the sea on this trip. All were soothing to the soul and beautiful to the eye. Our guide, Emily Stardust, took extra care to make sure every one of us got the most out of this trip. The Requa Inn was a wonderful place to stay with comfortable rooms, delicious meals, and a scenic setting on the Klamath River. We saw elk, seals, sea lions, whales spouting and numerous birds. For me, it was a truly enjoyable trip.
Beauty, splendor and quiet of the Redwoods. The camaraderie of the participants and guides...it was amazing Sue Matsen was amazing...thank you for arranging for her to meet with us. Along with the Yurok guided canoe ride, it provided a great opportunity to learn about the history/culture of the Yurok tribe, their relationship with the river, redwoods, flora and fauna. The journal was a nice tool for information and personal reflection.
The women who went on this trip were so welcoming and open. We laughed like crazy but we could also be quiet when we needed to be. The support from all the women, including the guides was incredible.
The beauty of the redwoods and the cozy Requa inn.
The details overall! From the Requa Inn, its staff, to the guides (yurok tribal members, kayaking and our AGC guides) the experiences and interactions felt carefully curated. It was obvious each hike and activity had been planned well.
The women on the trip! Wonderful group to share the experiences with during the daily hikes. The sea kayaking was wonderful, seeing the wildlife, our guides were phenomenal!
The consistent approach by AGC to find intimate lodging that is unique ( loved the separate bedrooms and not sharing this time). The consistent approach by AGC to include local culture with the nature we've come to see. The consistent approach by AGC to provide a bevy of activities all arranged around enjoying the area we've come to see. ( dugout canoes by local tribe, walking through streams and rivers, looking up close at nature, giving us options to walk and gawk, enjoying community with other travelers, promoting good conversation and opportunity to enjoy fellow travelers, exploration of a beach, ) The consistent approach by AGC to provide guides that lead by example (patiences, kindness, understanding, keeping us informed, encouraging, accepting and promoting that accepting community spirit for the week).
The location of the Inn was spectacular and the food was delicious. I enjoyed the company of my fellow-travelers, the beautiful nature, and the quiet hikes in the Redwood Forest.
